Answer

After installing the Windows Security update KB5012170, Windows Professional and Enterprise edition users that logged in with Microsoft account may enter BitLocker Recovery on the first or second restart.

If the device does prompt for a BitLocker Recovery key, find the Bitlocker recovery key by logging into your Microsoft account. (Refer to the Windows Article: Finding your BitLocker recovery key in Windows)

As a workaround, temporarily suspend Bitlocker with the following steps if:

    A. Windows Update KB5012170 has not been installed yet and BitLocker is enabled on the laptop;

    B. Windows Update KB5012170 is already installed, but the system has not been restarted or has only been restarted once.

To suspend Bitlocker Protection:

    1. Open Control Panel.

    2. Select System and Security > Bitlocker Driver Encryption > Suspend protection.

    3. Select Yes.

To resume BitLocker Protection:

    1. Open Control Panel.

    2. Select System and Security > Bitlocker Driver Encryption > Resume protection.

    3. Select Yes.

Note: BitLocker is a Microsoft encryption security product, MSI neither stores nor has the ability to provide a recovery key. MSI cannot circumvent the Microsoft BitLocker Recovery key process.
